"Yuri Tremler and Jacek Rudnicki OIls"
2006-01-01 until 2006-01-31
Lawrence Gallery Portland
Portland, OR, USA United States of America

From January 1, 2006 through the end of the month, Lawrence Gallery presents works in oil by Yuri Tremler and Jacek Rudnicki. Tremler was born in the Ukraine in 1961 and went to art and design school in Russia and Germany. Rudnicki originally from Warsaw, Poland has shown his abstract works mainly in Canada and the US. Purveyors of fine art for over 25 years, Lawrence Gallery has established a fine service record among collectors around the world.

Yuri Tremler's striking and spontaneous palette clearly expresses a gamut of emotional states and moods. Painted with the accuracy of a designer and the delicacy of a colorist, his works both inspire and calm. He uses the female form and contrasts it with geometric shapes in his paintings. The contrast between the stasis of his stylized female silhouettes and the dynamic interaction of his brightly colored patches and complex textures creates a feeling of internal peace, balanced with the harmony of the external world.

Jacek Rudnicki states, "I must admit that artist statements are something of a problem for me. Just as I find titles to be subjective and thus potentially limiting in respect to the work, I am likewise reluctant to claim being an avatar or an ambassador of some lofty criticism or idea. As I paint I am not trying to imbue the work with hidden messages or symbolic ideas, in fact as I paint I often lose all sense of time or circumstance. I am at a loss to explain it but the more I try to preconceive a piece the less real it seems and usually a struggle ensues by which I ultimately end up altering the preconception.  In essence what I am saying is that what interests me in the paintings is the act of creation, what I love about abstract or non objective work is that it exists in itself without outside reference to anything other than my other work.  The ideas I gravitate to which could be said to underlay the work in general are ideas of existence, of thresholds into uncertainty, of the many variables that form a nexus for any given moment or occurrence."
