APPLY NOW for Global Perspectives 2006! This Artist-in-Residence exchange program is between the Nordic countries and Beirut, Buenos Aires, Cairo, Shanghai, Singapore, Yangon. The bilateral artist-in-residence exchange program for professional visual artists was launched by NIFCA in 2002 in collaboration with residency hosts in New Delhi (IN), Akiyoshidai (JP), Taipei (TW). For 2006 it has been developed in collaboration with residency hosts in Beirut, Buenos Aires, Cairo, Shanghai, Singapore, Yangon. These are partners working in an engaged manner that we at NIFCA have got to know through our collaborations and networks during the past years.

The program aims to negotiate cultural differences, explore the potential to engage in inter and cross cultural activities, as well as to further art practices. The program is developed in negotiation with the residency hosts. Through open call, 6 artists based in the Nordic region are selected by an invited panel for residencies at each of the hosts. Reciprocally, NIFCA hosts 6 artists, at its center in Helsinki, selected by the residency hosts from their respective regions. The duration of each residency is planned to be 2 months. Residency times: April-October 2006.

The Nordic countries comprise: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and the self-governing territories Faroe Islands, Greenland, Åland Islands.

CN - China, Shanghai: Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art
EG - Egypt, Cairo: Townhouse Gallery
LB - Lebanon, Beirut: (confirmed by 13 January 2006)
MM - Myanmar (Burma), Yangon: NICA ˆ Networking & Initiatives for Culture and the Arts
SG - Singapore: 72-13

How to apply:

All professional visual artists based in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and the autonomous territories Faroe Islands, Greenland, Åland Islands are eligible to apply.

The only restrictions is:
* one should have a completed art education by the application deadline, i.e. students may not apply

The application form is filled in on-line.
