The Renaissance Society will present an exhibition by Yutaka Sone (Japan, living in the US) from January 29, 2006 to April 9, 2006. This multimedia installation will present a collection of new works whose unifying theme is snow. Consisting of a forest of live pine trees, drawings, paintings, and individual snowflake portraits in crystal, marble, and plaster, the installation will celebrate the spectacle of winter.
Sone has been included in numerous international biennial exhibitions, including the 2003 Venice Biennial where he had a solo exhibit in the Japanese pavilion, and numerous important group exhibitions, including the 2004 Whitney Biennial, and Universal Experience: Art, Life & the Tourists Eye at the MCA Chicago in 2005.
