Rauschenberg produces provocative compositions whose ingenuity and experimental character has enriched the art world for over half a century. His involvement with two of America's great fine art printers, Universal Limited Art Editions and Gemini G.E.L., gave the artist access to a spectrum of printing techniques and materials with which to develop an impressive graphic oeuvre. Masterpieces of his lithographic work from the early 1960s include the complete Bellini and Ruminations series. Rauschenberg's experiments in paper-making and printing, with examples from his Cardbirds and Pages and Fuses series, are among the 30 works, from the 1960s to the present, on view.
The Cantor Arts Center is on the Stanford campus, just off Palm Drive, at Museum Way. Parking is FREE and easy after 4 p.m. and on weekends. Weekday pay parking, in front of the Center or in the parking structure on Campus Drive and Roth Way, costs $1.50 per hour. The Center is fully accessible to people with disabilities.
