The group exhibition curated by Tchera Niyego will be held from May 1st to 15th, 2006 at the Broadway Gallery, New York City. There will be a Question-Discussion Session with the artists after the Opening Reception on Thursday, May 4th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Keith Morant is a new Premiere Portfolio Member at absolutearts.com. Morant comments about his work in the exhibition, “My painting, Morantartica is a celebration of ‘White’ through the manifestation of
a deeper unconscious awareness brought about by my geographical location. My
home has been in New Zealand for over thirty years now and one cannot live
here without becoming part of the glorious histories and adventures surrounding
the exploration of the Southern Pole.
Therefore the news that this exhibition was to be titled ‘White’ seemed, after very
little consideration, somehow very appropriate to me. I have tried to blend the
more philosophical connotations of ‘white’ with the physical feelings of
anticipation and celebration. These feelings range from the emergence of life
itself (the whiteness of innocence), the fulfillment of union (wedding dress/cake),
the journey of discovery, (polar excursion and the conscious struggle for meaning
through color) and, of course, transience and the return to the whiteness of
death. But of course, these are only my feelings. Your perceptions are your own affair."
