"Call for Artists: Paws for a Picture"

Are you looking for a way to be inspired and support a vital community service? Then it’s time to put your pen to paper or brush to canvas or finger to shutter and create an original art piece for the first annual Paws for a Picture. Paws for a Picture is a unique art show and sale benefiting the Memphis Shelby County Humane Society. We are seeking art submissions (donations) in all formats (drawing, painting, photography, mixed, media…) produced unsigned on an 8 X 10 surface. Please sign the back of the piece and include the title as well as a brief artist's statement. Your submissions can use any theme or palette. Animals are not required, but always enjoyed.

At the event, all submissions will be universally priced and presented anonymously to our ‘art patron’ attendees. Selection will be based purely on taste and perspective. We anticipate submissions from professional artists, art students, aspiring artists and hobbyists.

Paws for a Picture will be held on Friday, October13th, 2006 (tentative date) at Café Francisco, 400 North Main in Memphis, TN from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets will be $20 and include appetizers and two beverage tickets. All artists are welcome as our guests.

Your submissions would need to be completed and ready for pick-up or delivery by Friday, September 1st. We are requesting a single art piece but would also accept multiple pieces or related series in our 8 X 10 format.
