"F L E S H by Thaweesak Srithongdee: New Works by the Thai Artist"
2006-05-20 until 2006-06-11
Thavibu Gallery
Bangkok, , TH Thailand

Thavibu Gallery is pleased to present the art exhibition F L E S H by Thaweesak Srithongdee with new works by the Thai artist on 20 May - 11 June, 2006. Thaweesak Srithongdee is 36 years old with a Master of Fine Art degree from Silapakorn University, Thailand's main art education institution.  He has taken part in exhibitions in Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain and Singapore as well as Thailand, and this is his second solo show at Thavibu Gallery. He recently returned from a residency at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum in Japan where he also participated in the Fukuoka Triennale.

Thaweesak is a keen observer of people, their traits and physical and mental characters. Using his imagination, he goes on to ponder whether people's looks are related to their behaviour, culture, social standing and other aspects. The result is a series of pop-erotic paintings where his works are filled with symbols and show his interpretations of and feeling towards other human beings. As viewers react differently to various symbols, he expects people to see his works in a variety of ways using different interpretations.

Thavibu Gallery Co. Ltd. is an Art Gallery for quality paintings. The Gallery’s objective is to promote quality art, particularly from Thailand , Vietnam  and Burma , hence the name Thavibu Gallery. The emphasis is on young and upcoming artists whose works express and communicate the imaginative aspects of their culture and reflect concerns that range broadly from the spiritual and aesthetic to the social and political. The Gallery also carries some other artworks, mainly
