"3rd International Miniart Exchange"
2006-06-02 until 2006-07-14
Queen's B
Queen Charlotte, BC,
CA Canada
After exhibits in Brazil and Australia, now the 3rd International Miniart Exchange is being held at Queen B's in Queen Charlotte, BC, Canada from June 2 to July 14. This exhibit brings together new works of 80 international and 10 local artists. Participating artists come from Finland, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Scotland, Georgia, Latvia, England, United States, Honduras, Brazil, Singapore and Canada. The International Miniart Exchange had its origin in a group of international artists who are part of an online forum and use the Internet to discuss art and art related subjects.
The first International Miniart Exchange took place in Brazil in 2003 and was organised by Brazilian artist Clara Pechansky, followed by a second exhibit in Australia in 2004. After exhibition in Queen Charlotte the show travels to Singapore in January 2007.
The aim of the shows, with works in a small format, is to display a panorama of fine art work created around the world. The exhibit format allows each artist a surface of just 20x20 centimetres. The uniform size provides an equal ground on which the artists can express their ideas. It also provides a single aspect that connects the diversity of cultural influences, and the individual creativity of participants.
Of the 90 participants, several artist have Portfolios at absolutearts.com including:
Kiki van der Heiden, Canada
Cheryl McClure, USA
Jorge Restrepo, Honduras
Emilio Merlina, Italy
James W. Foster, UK
Aigars Liepins, Latvia
Michiel Otten, Netherlands
Gillian McIver, UK
Yeo Shih Yun, Singapore
Laura Moriarty, USA
