"Nord Art opens with Sculpture Symposium"
2006-06-11 until 2006-09-17
KiC - Kunst in der Carlshutte
Büdelsdorf, , DE Germany

KiC - Kunst in der Carlshutte - is a collaborative initiative of the ACO Group and town of Buedelsdorf. KiC organizes this international fine art exhibition annually from the middle of June through mid September. This year celebrates the tenth year of Nord Art, taking place between June 11 and September 17, 2006. This year the exhibition features works from 190 aritsts from 31 countries, selected from over 762 entries from 51 countries. Within the framework of Nord Art are a number of cultural activities in different locations. All entries have undergone a selection process by a jury panel including ten sculptors who will take part in a symposium. Of those selected are Chris Peterson of the Netherlands.

Chris Peterson is sponsored for this occaission by Milwaukee Electric Tools (Netherlands)and Sorma Diamond Tools (Italy).

As the traditional "starter" of Nord Art, the Symposium of Stone Sculpture takes place in the beginning of the series. The participants were provided with materials, working space and accomodations directly in the exhibition area.

"My work evolves around my personal search for the definition of space. From my perspective, space is a collection of coherent moments of which our emotions form the boundaries and our feelings dictate the outcome of our actions. Therefor I preserve certain moments in my sculptures, installations and photographs, sometimes more permanently than others, using different materials to suit the concept at hand. This complex dialogue between an intense thought and feeling, form and material, doesn't happen overnight. It takes a certain incubation time to form the ideas into a solid structure which, in my case, looks plain and simple. In my opinion it is the intensity of a clear form that has the most inpact on space. Besides the artwork itself, the surroundings can also be adjusted, converted to create the maximum impact. I try, when ofcourse this is possible, to arrange the total presentation and not soley focus on the finished work." - Chris Peterson.

Peterson has exhibited internationally over the past ten years.

Chris Peterson has been a Premiere Portfolio Artist since 2003 at absolutearts.com. View more of his work at http://www.absolutearts.com/portfolios/c/chrispeterson.
