"51 Doorways: Photography by Suell E. Scott"
2006-07-08 until 2006-08-05
Gallery 51
Buffalo, NY, USA United States of America

Gallery 51 presents 51 Doorways: Photography as an art form by Suell E. Scott. Why pictures of doors? This is a question that has been posed to Ms. Scott countless times during the 14 years that she has been concentrating on her unusual artistic interest. It is something that tugs at Ms. Scott's memory, a constant admonition that she has heard since childhood in the voice of her father that said, "Always close the door quietly behind you," she wonders if she has been led quietly and yes, spiritually to her interest.

On the other hand, "A door can be at the threshold of a new beginning; a door can be a challenge. A door can be opened and a subsequent experience can be a salvation; or then again…" Then, there are doors that were never meant to be opened. However, the door itself might simply be a 'thing of beauty."

When speaking of new beginnings 51 Door_ways is a perfect opening show for Gallery 51 which has just expanded their stationery and gift boutique to include exhibiting and meeting space. Gallery 51 is looking forward to working with many local and national artists to exhibit their talent and their artwork. If you are interested in exhibiting with Gallery 51 please contact them, you will need to supply a bio and samples of your work.

Suell E. Scott is a Buffalo native. Photography as an art form has been of paramount interest to her for many years. Ms. Scott has exhibited extensively in South Florida and this is her first solo show. She has traveled extensively and her lens has captured the beauty of the doors on three continents. Some of her most impressive pictures are those taken in Mexico, Colombia, Italy and now Buffalo.

Gallery 51 is an intimate multi-ethnic stationery and gift boutique neatly filled with high-quality merchandise. Their recent addition allows them to host art exhibits in "The place where dreams grow wings". Located at 567-569 Elmwood Avenue, Gallery 51 features an extensive product line including fine stationery, handmade journals, greeting cards for every occasion, natural soaps and lotions, jewelry, personalized stationery, professionally printed wedding and social invitations, family crest design and original artwork.
