Indepth Arts News: "Talking Stones: Valobran International Sculpture Symposium Izola" 2006-09-01 until 2006-09-15 KUD Korenina Portoroz, , SI Slovenia
From 1 until 15 September, the town of Izola (Slovenia), hosts the second edition of the Valobran International Sculpture Symposium. For this edition, three sculptors have been selected: Chris Peterson (Netherlands), Yury Tkachenko
(Russia) and Richard Chapo (Zimbabwe). During the symposium, the sculptors will tackle the rough boulders at the coastline. The public is welcome to view the progress made by each artist from day to day.
Korenina is a non-profit organization founded by artists of different cultural backgrounds.
The purpose of our association is to promote visual arts through sculpture and place it especially in public places, and to have it displayed permanantly on our open air gallery, and to approach the people to the »art scene« of the contemporary art world. The Association Korenina in collaboration with Municipality of Izola, is holding its 2nd annual Valobran International Stone Sculpture Symposium, which we are inviting artists from different cultures from all around the world to gather and create sculptures dealing with a theme “Talking Stones” This event encourages intellectual and professional exchange amongst the artists, by creating local opportunities for local people to participate, enhancing their understanding of visual art, to share sculpting experiences and create a dialogue and a meeting between the public., the artists and their art.
