"Call for Artists: StoneMetal Press’ Hand-Pulled Prints International XIII"

StoneMetal Press’ Hand-Pulled Prints International XIII exhibition will be held held at the new StoneMetal Press Gallery, Blue Star Art Complex, San Antonio, Texas in April and May 2007. Postmark Deadline for entries is January 14, 2007. The juror is Lyle W. Williams, Curator of Prints and Drawings San Antonio at the world famous McNay Museum of Art in San Antonio, Texas. AWARDS: First, Second & Third Place in each category, Prints and Books, as well as a Best of Show. Over $1,000 Cash prizes. The Dan Welden SOLARPLATE Award: $100 in SOLARPLATES(c) will go to a work that has the media identified as SOLARPLATE(c).

HAND-PULLED PRINTS International XIII is a competitive juried show held to support the efforts of artists producing their own hand-pulled prints as part of the mission of StoneMetal Press. Each year a catalogue of the exhibition with an image of each accepted print in the competition is published. The exhibiting artists each receive a copy. One work will be chosen for the cover and invitation. StoneMetal Press is a non-profit press established to provide education in fine art printmaking, the facilities for artists to create their own hand-pulled prints, and exhibition gallery space to support artists through exhibitions and sales.

MEDIA eligibility and specifications

PRINTS: All prints must be original in design and hand-pulled by the artist. Photographs, computer generated prints (ink jet, iris, etc.), copier or offset reproductions are not eligible. Collaborative pieces are not eligible. Prints pulled by a printer other than the artist are not eligible. Printmaking should be the predominant media. Dimensions of framed artwork may not exceed 42 in any direction. Limit of three print entries per artist. Judging will be by slide only.

BOOKS and 3-D works: All books and 3-D works must be original in design and hand made and assembled by the artist. Collaborative pieces are not eligible. Prints pulled by a printer other than the artist are not eligible. Printmaking should be a predominant media in mixed media. Dimensions may not exceed 24 in any direction. Limit of three book entries per artist. Judging will be by slide only. Two slides per book: one of the cover and one detail of book interior.

Artists may submit work for both categories, for a total of 6 entries.
