The landscape has inspired artists for hundreds of
years and Mark R Brockman is no different. What sets
Brockman apart from the others, is his ability to look
at the landscape with the eye of an Abstract
Expressionist. There are no sweeping panoramic views
at this show but more intimate portraits of a specific
spot. Portraits that capture the spirit of the place
rather then a photographic representation. The Delaplaine Visual Arts Center in Frederick, Maryland presents Mark R Brockman: Landscapes from November 4 to December 22, 2006. Mark R Brockman has been a Premiere Portfolio Artist at absolutearts.com sonce 2000.
Brockman does
this with paint and color. The show will consist of
Oil and Pastel paintings. The pastels done En Plien
Aire and the oils created in the studio from the
pastels, where the artists can dream and play with
paint.
Brockman states, "I want the viewer to see and understand that the commonplace things I paint are not so commonplace.
"My work is ever-evolving, my paintings range from the representational to the abstract, determined by my mood. Some are statements of what we see, and some are statements of what we do. I will not tell a viewer what to think; I only hope to make them think.
"I have participated in numerous shows (juried, one man and group shows) having won a number of awards. My work hangs in private collections across the USA as well as in Germany. One of my paintings was presented to the town of Stelzenburg, Germany by its sister city of Thurmont, Maryland. My paintings have hung in many galleries over the years and do so now in the galleries listed below. I teach painting on a part time basis, to instill the love of creating to those who desire it."
