Nomadic ocean artist Michelle Wardley has returned to her Perth stomping ground after 5 1/2 years of travelling around Australia and the indo pacific. Michelle arrived at the Vic Park Art Centre on Saturday, December 9, 2006, with her exhibition "Tidal" after touring throughout the north west, Midwest and Goldfields with the collection of over 30 oil paintings "inspired by the energy of the sea & the many places on my path". The Exhibition until Sunday the 24th December 2006 and as a part of her state wide tour.Michelle Wardley has been a Premiere Portfolio Artist at absolutearts.com since 2002.
Michelle has recently appeared with her progressive art exhibition "Tidal" at the ACDC Art Gallery in Geraldton, Tom Price nameless Festival, Newman Fortescue Festival, Kalgoorlie Art Centre & will be taking her works throughout the south west over coming months.
Michelle has spent most of her artistic career living a life travelling from port to port and town to town since her inception as an artist 11 years ago. She has spent the last 4 years living on board a catamaran travelling the coasts of Australia and Indonesia and she captures her nomadic life in colourful brushless artworks created with a knife.
"I've spent most of my life moving from place to place by land and sea", says Michelle, "but my heart is in the ocean its ever changing beauty inspires me. This exhibition exudes my passion for the tides which shape our lives."
Since commencement of the exhibition Michelle has received great interest in her artworks locally, internationally and Australia wide, several pieces have found homes, including local residents and international guests including the Netherlands, New Zealand & the UK. Michelle will also be interviewed to feature in the Australian Geographic magazine in January on commencement of her southwest tour to Esperance, Albany, Yallingup Augusta and Margaret River.
