Tim King's "observational/perceptual drawing systems" and Walter King's "Souvineers of Argentina" will be on exhibit at Maria Elena Kravetz Gallery in Cordoba from July 11 through the 28th, 2007. These two brothers - Tim and Walt King - have been making art for more than 40 years each...80 years in combination. Timothy King is an observational and perceptual painter who explores his visual perception finding viscerally intriguing images...nudes, landscapes, still life are all subject to his gaze. He is part of a group of panters who are interested in Figurative Abstraction or Abstract Figuration, a term coined by Gabriel Ladderman. That is not to suggest that a powerful imagination is not also involved. His most recent works include social commentary with a symbolic lexicon. The drawings in this show are primarily studies for larger works and as such give a sense of the form twisting and revolving in space. Often Tim's images seem to exist in two spaces at once. The drawings in this show are a glimpse at the process.

Walter King is known for his symbolic world view. Repetively stenciled images create an atmosphere in both the metaphorical sense as well as the breathable sense. But in this exhibition he is exhibiting small souvineer watercolors done while traveling and away from his studio. Mostly landscapes of the Argentine countryside and cities, these are straight forward observational works. His color, however, carries over from his usual work instigating both atmosphere and sheer delight in the images of Argentina. These intimate watercolors give us a sense of Walter's more traditional abilities, his working disciplines. They set the tone for those contemporary mythical and mystical images that he is known for.
