The land foundation is organizing a the "One Year Project" which is a
residency program that will run from October 1st 2007 to September 30th, 2008. It is now open for application. Open for all disciplines from in and outside the country. ‘the land foundation’ is a platform of and for social engagement, experimental alternative education at the intersection of debate, and holistic learning. It is aiming to promote and support art and culture, natural farming and self-knowledge through Vipassana meditation. Its activities emphasize on education, discussion of ideas, and knowledge-sharing. It values the complexities and sensitivities that arise through the process of challenging the status quo and culture.
‘One Year Project # 2’, the land foundation’s residency program, is conceived to support a new generation of cultural activists who are interested in its principles by providing an alternative education, within a creative working atmosphere, in a harmonious natural living space with the task of learning the following:
- Personal mind development through Vipassana Meditation: To understand how the ego works and to express sincere respect to others.
- Natural farming and self-sustainable living: To respect the ecosystem and support sustainable living in urban as well as rural areas.
- Media study: To understand the concept and role of media, to have awareness and be able to see through and analyze social phenomenon.
- Art: To understand art in terms of tools for cultural communication and to spend time and pay attention to the importance of the thinking process.
Activities comprise academic part consisting of literature reviews, talks, discussions, presentations, and practical part consisting of studio workshops, field trips, exhibitions, the artists’ private and collaborative projects.
The project is intensely focused on the development of the full-time resident participants. However the project is open for general public and part-time participation is always welcome
