Indepth Arts News: "Nudes 07: Local and International Artists Interpret the Human Form" 2007-09-11 until 2007-10-06 De Havilland Gallery Wollongong, , AU Australia
The artworks on display are a diverse range of drawings, sculpture, paintings and digital photography of the human body, in all its glory. Nude’s 07 covers classic poses, abstract interpretation, bold colours and subtle meanings. There is thought and purpose in many of the pieces along with a natural sense of beauty for the form we know as our own.
Trisha Lambi is a QLD artist and first time exhibitor at the De Havilland Gallery. Her beautiful series of oil paintings subtly depict the pain, emotion and external pressure that woman faces. These are a selection from her ‘Draped’ series. Trisha has artworks hanging in private collections in Australia, Spain, China, Germany, Ireland, Cyprus, Canada and the United States.
Jane Millington is also another new artist at De Havilland. She is exhibiting selected works from her ‘Gossamer Love’ series. Inspired by the prose of F Scott Fitzgerald; her oil paintings share with the viewer the intimate world of the lovers; naked and embracing on canvas. There is a clear sense of surrealism and ethereal beauty with deep curves and nuanced contrasts of colour.
De Havilland Gallery’s own international artist Kurt Brereton will be exhibiting five mixed media artworks, all drawn whilst blindfolded, of his mother in the shower. Once again, Kurt shows his eccentric style with artworks that are both colourful and controversial. Kurt is also on his way to New York, where he will be exhibiting in a number of galleries, including Agora Gallery, NY.
The delightful charcoal drawings by Eva Hampel will enhance any room. Her exquisite charcoal and colour wash nudes are free flowing and skilfully executed.
Hanging along side the international artists, will be our national, regional and emerging artists: Keith Rutherford - who was a finalist in the 2006 Dobell Prize, Liz Jeneid – a long time professional artist of the Illawarra, Robert Duffield, Tom McMahon, Duncan Staples, Kelly Gibbs, Roseleen Healy, Terry Melouney, Gabrielle Willmott, Linda Frattner, Lise Staff and Soraya Welin. We would also like to welcome Jeanette Prout to the De Havilland stable along with all the new artists that are exhibiting.
