"Call for Artists and Curators: Proposals Sought for 2008"
2007-10-01 until 2007-11-02
Physics Room
Christchurch, , NZ New Zealand (Aotearoa)

The Physics Room is an internationally recognised arts platform dedicated to the development of innovative contemporary art in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Physics Room provides assistance to art practitioners with resources and opportunities to achieve a higher level of professional and creative development. We work to promote and encourage a greater acknowledgement, understanding and value of contemporary art among New Zealanders. The Physics Room programme comprises a range of parallel, integrated activities—including exhibitions, publications, performances, lectures, web archives, and local public art projects—all which create multiple opportunities and give the issues and ideas raised by the programme the widest possible dissemination and discussion.

We encourage proposals from artists, writers and curators interested in participating in The Physics Room’s programme. The programme is determined by the Director in consultation with the Board of Trustees and curatorial committee.

We are currently seeking exhibitions and events for our 2008 programme.

-          an outline of the proposed project addressing the conceptual basis and a physical description
-          an outline of the equipment required, logistical considerations and budget
-          support material, including documentation that gives an indication of previous work
-          a brief curriculum vitae

To support artists in realising projects, The Physics Room generally offers:
-          artists, writers and/or curators fees
-          support with technical/av requirements and exhibition installation
-          publicity, promotion and media exposure
-          opening preview
-          digital documentation of projects with the possibility of a catalogue/electronic publication

Application closing date for 2008 programme: 2 November 2007. Notification of successful proposals will be received in due course.
