"Living Together: Work from Artists Own Collections"
2007-11-23 until 2007-01-27
City Gallery Wellington, Hirschfeld Gallery
Wellington, , NZ

These are a few of my favourite things...Wellington Artists lend favourite works for new exhibition. Found objects, Trade Me bargains, paintings, posters, carvings, ceramics and sculpture are just some of the works that make up Living Together, the latest exhibition at City Gallery Wellington’s Michael Hirschfeld Gallery, 23 November until 27 January 2008. Living Together shares and celebrates work from artists’ own collections. Wellington artists and designers have been invited to lend a work of special meaning or interest to them from their own homes. The lenders include artists and designers who have had a recent involvement with the Michael Hirschfeld Gallery.

“It is wonderful to see the interconnections between these artists and the works they are lending; for example Amy Howden-Chapman is lending a Regan Gentry, while Regan has selected a Hamish Tocher,” says curator Jessica Reid, “Kate Woods has chosen a Geoffrey Heath, while Heath cites photographer Adrienne Martyn, who is also lending work, as an influence.”

Artist Stuart Shepherd's garage sale find is a carving by an unknown sculptor while Bronwyn Smith has lent a functioning homemade Spacies machine purchased off Trade Me.

Terry Urbahn’s pick is his prized "et al" work given to him after he worked with the collective on the fundamental practice at the 2005 Venice Biennale.

Suzanne Tamaki is lending a work by Reuben Patterson and ceramist Katherine Smyth is lending three paintings and a tile. Furniture designer Duncan Sergeant has chosen a work by Wairarapa artist Harry Watson while Simon Morris is lending a Grant Lingard.
