First Street Gallery in New York is exhibiting recent drawings, watercolors and oils by guest artist Byron Dobell during December 2008. This exhibition, his seventh one-man show, includes landscapes of New England, Scotland and Italy among other places. Dobell's subject matter also includes life studies and still lifes in a variety of mediums. The First Street Gallery promotes their artists with a Gallery Portfolio at absolutearts.com.
Although Dobell is best known as a portraitist, his shows are devoted to landscapes and figurative works. He has exhibited at the American Academy of Arts and Letters and at the Century Association in New York where he is an artist member. His work is represented in the Smithsonianís National Portrait Gallery. In 2006 he was a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome.
First Street Gallery is located at 526 West 26th Street, New York, NY 10001. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 AM until 6 PM.
