The Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) launches a search for a new director (after Manuel Borja-Villel’s designation as director of the Museo Nacional Reina Sofia in Madrid - MNCARS) The candidates must submit their CV and any documents accrediting the merits mentioned in it, and a report that reflects the general lines of the project for the coming years. These documents must be submitted in Catalan, Spanish and/or English and sent to the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (Placa dels Angels 1, 08001 Barcelona, Spain) in a sealed envelope, indicating “Convocatoria Direccio Macba”, by 14 March 2008.

The applications submitted will be analyzed at a first stage of assessment of merits by a committee of experts formed by:

-Lynne Cook, member of the MACBA advisory committee
-Maria de Corral, member of the MACBA advisory committee
-Chris Dercon, member of the MACBA advisory committee
-Vicente Todolí, member of the MACBA advisory committee
-Carles Duran, gallerist
-Pere Portabella, artist
-Xavier Antich, professor of philosophy
-Vicenç Altaió, representative of the Catalan Government Department of Culture
-Ainhoa Grandes, representing the MACBA Foundation
-Marta Clari, representing the Barcelona Institute of Culture / City Council

At a second stage, the committee will carry out any interviews it considers necessary and will submit a proposal for a candidate to the the Delegate Committee and Board of the Museum for appointment.
