MARIA NOEL LOESCHBOR - Engravings / Objects at Maria Elena Kravetz Gallery in Cordoba, running from April 23 to May 17, 2008, reveals the new approaches of the expressions of current engravings, particularly xylography as a central character. Xylography here viewed from the manipulation of its matrix in recombinable modules, allowing to test, to mean, to experiment, to get to know the effect of a determined action on a surface loaded with sensitive meanings. There are fabrics with dissimilar textures and transparencies, pieces of memory and concentrated memories that the artist collected over time from various people as they got engaged with her artistic project.
The artwork is born from the everyday, it is made out of what is playful, humorous, out of the innocence and tenderness countered with the wounds and scratches nonetheless hurting, provoking, and setting one's teeth on edge, particularly in the manipulation of the medium/ fabrics or the installations/objects where everything is playing a game: distances and gestures play (Huellas/Footsteps) as components of a non-verbal language. Such game is not extraordinary in Noel's work since she’s been showing this way of thinking the artwork for a long time. She creates a peephole through which one can get a perception of consciousness, where there is an intended request on the observer of the picture, born in the passiveness of a lone observer to manipulate the artwork so that it takes him or her to its vast inside.
