"The Invisible Forces of Nature"
2008-05-02 until 2008-05-25
St. John’s College Art Gallery
Santa Fe, NM, USA United States of America

Forces in nature impact our very existence from moment to moment, yet most are beyond our awareness. Thermal dynamics, gravity, electromagnetism, vibration, growth, love and emotions are some of the unseen forces that will be represented in this upcoming show. The Master Designer, Nature, is our mentor and inspiration. Our challenge as artists is to make the invisible visible, and the intangible tangible through the rigors of the creative process. It is our intention to have our creative endeavors be a conduit for the beauty, power and mystery of Nature’s invisible forces. Included in this exhibition is work by Ursula Freer, who has been a Premiere Portfolio Artist at absolutearts.com since 2001.

The Forum for Science and Art brings artists and scientists together for intellectual and artistic stimulation. Members share their discoveries and creations through formal and informal presentations. Everyone is welcome; the curious, the interested, and the passionate.

St. John’s College, with campuses in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and in Annapolis, Maryland, is an independent, nondenominational four-year liberal arts college. The integrated curriculum is based on the chronological study of the foundations of Western civilization, beginning with Homer, Sophocles, and Plato. St. John’s also offers two graduate degree programs through its Graduate Institute in Liberal Education: the Master of Arts in Liberal Arts and the Master of Arts in Eastern Classics.

Freer Comments about her work, "After working in traditional painting for most of my life I discovered the digital medium a few years ago. For me he computer is an excellent tool for creating art and communicating ideas.

"My work reflects my interests and passions. I am fascinated by the not yet discovered and unknown. This sense of discovery and mystery fuels my creativity. Making art helps me to explore and experience how things work on a deeper intuitive level. Sharing this experience with others adds purpose and satisfaction to my work."
