The Leonard and Bina Ellen Art Gallery, Concordia University in Montreial is currently solliciting project proposals for its visiting curator program for 2009-2010. This program‚s objective is to support independent curatorial activities and to further enhance the Gallery's programming.
Every two years the Gallery invites a curator to conceive and organize two projects over a 24 month period. These projects may be related or not and can be of a diverse nature. The proposal must have a clear critical framework. A publication is produced during the two years.
The Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery, associated with Concordia University and located in downtown Montreal, is a place that reflects upon the practice of contemporary artmaking, curating and mediation. It also investigates experimental approaches that have marked the history of contemporary art. It strives to be a place where art specialists, the public at large and students are able to experience art as a way of thinking and of being in the world.
Deadline for submission : May 22nd, 2008
The application must contain:
A well formulated proposal (minimum two pages).
A curriculum vitae with full contact information.
Documents supporting the applicant's curatorial practice.
Preference will be given to proposals that have a local or Canadian representation. A curatorial fee is offered. Travel is not covered by the Gallery.
