Indepth Arts News: "Out of the Blue: A National Juried Art Exhibition" 2008-07-02 until 2008-07-25 Attleboro Arts Museum Attleboro, MA, USA United States of America
IMAGE The color of ocean and sky, blue is often perceived
as a constant in our lives. It is frequently seen as trustworthy and dependable, while at the
same time, some feel the overuse of blue can be cold, uncaring or melancholy. That said,
this pliable color could take a different turn and become a dynamic expression of
exhilaration when sparks of electric blues make their mark.
“We received over 800 entries from nearly 500 artists in 32 states” reports Mim Brooks
Fawcett, Attleboro Arts Museum, Executive Director. Fawcett continues, “This theme
has intrigued and excited our artists. The end result has a common denominator of lush
blue hues – mixed with wonderfully diverse messages. It is thrilling to see such a strong
response and to receive an outpouring of quality work.”
In addition to this exhibition, this summer, two other museums are featuring the art of Hooshang Khorasani in back-to-back shows.
Two of the exhibits are displaying paintings from Hooshang's new "Luminescence" series of abstracts. From June 6 to July 11 the Rawls Museum Arts of Courtland, Va., is showing the two-painting set, "Luminescence," which earned third place at the exhibition. And the Attleboro Arts Museum is showing the two-painting set "Jewels" in connection with an exhibit titled "Out of the Blue."
From May 10 to June 5, Hooshang's painting "Equine Elegance" was shown at the Louisiana State Museum in Baton Rouge. The exhibit was a preview to the annual Louisiana Public Broadcasting Art & Travel Auction held June 8.
