"Art at the Logistic Centre of Barcelona Airport by Josep Puigmarti"
2008-10-21 until 2009-01-31
Hotel del Arte
Barcelona, , ES Spain

Josep Puigmarti is holding an exhibition at the Centre for Air Cargo of Barcelona Airport, space managed by CLASA (Centres of Airport Logistics, Inc.), where we will be able to admire a selection of paintings and sculptures created by the multifaceted artist: his paintings highlights his series "Alien Fashion" showing unreal characters that he calls extraterrestrials, formed with non-premeditated strokes and gestures with surrealistic automatisms that produce very dynamic artworks supported in the use of colour. As a sculptor, Puigmarti offers to visitors his vision, in this case more dadaist that surrealistic, of characters created from very diverse objects that the artist has set out of context and equipped with new reading, assembled in an accidental manner based on his boundless and unlimited creativity and on the freedom to express it. Josep Puigmarti shows at Hotel del Arte, where artists are pormoted via and absolutearts.com Gallery Portfolio.

Among the many attractions offered by this exhibition we will be able to discover master Puigmartiís latest creation, the sculpture entitled "Aliens discover Miniblack" created with glass bottles from the brand Miniblack of Freixenet. This new sculpture can be admired within the framework provided by this exhibition which will take place in the lobby of the building of general services of the centre of air cargo at Barcelona Airport, with the sponsorship of CLASA, Hotel Estela Barcelona, Arpal (Association for Recycling of aluminium products), Cavas Freixenet, Trinijove Private Foundation and Welfare Foundation of La Caixa. Also with the collaboration of Ecoembes, Ecovidrio, Aena, the Airport of Barcelona and the Catalan Agency of Waste of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

There will also be compactor containers dressed in solidarity with designs made by the same artist. These containers which are used to deposit aluminium beverage cans and tins, are currently located in different spaces of Barcelona Airport to help all passengers contribute to the recycling of these metals. Recall that aluminium is the most valued material of packing on the market of recovery and recycling, providing many environmental and economic advantages.

This way CLASA is working in protecting the environment altogether with Trinijove Foundation, which is responsible of collecting the packaging and subsequent recycling. This way, we obtain a double benefit, social and environmental sustainability, and that this entity is working on getting the job placement of people with significant degree of risk of exclusion.

This unique exhibition can be visited from October 21, 2008 and will remain open to the public until the end of January 2009.

Josep Puigmarti is an artist devoted to an intense creative activity in his eternal quest for beauty through experimentation with all kinds of materials, which lead him to make startling plastic discoveries.

There are many facets of this singular artist who surprise, beginning by his appealing personality, his peculiar way of dressing, his conversation always pleasant and sociable, his simplicity, his audacity, his sincerity ... and, of course, his non-less surprising artworks, so full of creativity, spontaneity and passion that immerse the observer in a world in which matter and shape blend to give the creations with great consistency and a huge plastic expressiveness.

As a creator, Puigmarti has managed to develop his own style. We could say that, despite being an artist difficult to categorize, his work could adhere to a surrealism with a lot of those automatisms always supported by his lively, eloquent and unpredictable gesture. We face a very versatile artist who avoids preliminary sketches, capturing all that spontaneity independently of the media he decides to use and of the type of artwork that he chooses to present, either painting or sculpture.

This exhibition is good proof of this.
