City Gallery at the Costick
Farmington Hills, MI,
USA United States
Quaint miniature chairs, unusual tables, and an eclectic collection of
textiles, ceramic mosaics, and collages from the artistic mind of Ellen
Stern will be on display at the Farmington Hills City Gallery from November
10 through December 29. Stern has displayed her delightful and unique works in galleries across the United States and Canada, and has had works published in Best of Michigan Artists, Artisans 2006, and Mosaico, originally published in Barcelona,
Spain, and now available in an English version. Her works have also been
exhibited at the Festival ArteMusica in Piandisco, Italy. Ellen Stern has been a Premiere Portfolio artist at absolutearts.com since 2004.
Stern’s style incorporates both the useful and the whimsical. “Between
the Cracks Mosaics” will feature selections of her wall hangings, large and
small mosaic tables, paper cut-outs, animals, and works on canvas, all of
which inspire close inspection and delight in unexpected details.
stern comments about her work, "My quirky and unique style is not limited to one genre. By combining disparate objects, textures, and references in new ways, I engage the viewers' emotions, humor and intellect.
I try to show the process of creation within the piece itself.
I hope to transmit to the viewer the same Eureka! moment that I experienced in conceiving the idea of the piece."
The City Gallery is located in the Costick Center at 28600 W. Eleven Mile
Road. It’s open during regular business hours, 8:30 - 4:30 p.m., Monday
through Friday.
