Gallery 1: "The View". Oil paintings by Jerry Ross. This exhibit features both landscapes and cityscapes. Some of the Italian scenes have been completed in the studio from quick oil sketches made in Italy. Some are of the Oregon countryside from this summer or early Fall. The Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts (DIVA) Center is a non-profit, membership supported organization. Our Center, is the manifest vision of a number of local artists, business people and community leaders. This highly energized collaboration of volunteers has realized incredible success with the opening of a six gallery exhibit space and 60 seat screening room. One of the original members, Jerry Ross has been a Premiere Portfolio Artist at absolutearts.com since 2000.

Ross comments, "My style is intuitive but informed by abstraction and verismo and I Macchiaioli influences although I have always painted with a loose brush and with dramatic chiaroscuro. Increasingly I am paying more attention to decorative aspects of landscape painting, the color harmonies, and the effects of rapidly changing light and atmosphere."
