"Call for Artists: The Journey of The Pod"

"The Journey of The Pod" is a contest that encourages Artists, Art Students (over 18), and concerned enthusiasts in the community, to enter their rendition of "The Journey of The Pod". Plantations struggle with the environment and financial and political elements, to grow cocoa. They sometimes have to choose whether to keep planting or to cut down the trees to sell the wood for money. Artist around the world will begin to hear about "The Journey of The Pod" and share their enthusiasm about making a difference:about communicating with their art. Entries from around the world are welcome!

Business' all different sizes are involved in protecting the cocoa trees, empowering the Farmers and creating Fair Trade so that the Plantation owners and workers can make a living. Read more about it and create the image that you think best represents "The Journey of The Pod".

Guidelines: Print, sign and send in for "The Journey of The Pod" art contest
Media/Techniques: Pen, ink, watercolor, acrylic, digital, collage.
Format: Entries must be the original art and on either 8.5x11 paper or 8.5x11 canvas.
Incorporate at least two media to depict "The Journey of The Pod"

Entries: All entries must be postmarked by January 15, 2009.

Winner from the 2008 contest was N.Y. artist Michele Bedigian. Her image was rich with texture and history. It was exhibited at the Show and was printed on both T-shirts and posters. A portion of the proceeds was donated to Rainforest Alliance.
