"Lisa Adams The Future of Paradise Past"

Lawrence Asher Gallery is proud to present The Future Of Paradise Past, twelve
recent oil paintings by Los Angeles artist Lisa Adams. The exhibition continues
Adams’ cautious examination of a possible paradise that contains birds,
botanical elements and enigmatic structures. This unfamiliar place offers the
viewer an opportunity for Koanlike contemplation.
“Her (Lisa’s) work’s not so much a process of entropy as imperfection, things
don’t become cockedup, things are cockedup right from the start. It’s a
message that broaches a spirituality of imperfection. Once it does so, it’s up to
the viewer to make peace, find eddies of beauty and serenity, where they can
find it, on the canvas and, especially, beyond.” James Scarborough, excerpt
from exhibition catalogue.
