Corey Helford Gallery is proud to present “Tracking The Wounded”, a solo
exhibition of new works by Joey Remmers. For his first solo show at the
gallery, Remmers creates a series of compelling visual narratives, many are
adaptations from his favorite novels and short stories. Inspired by authors
from Steven King and Chuck Palahniuk to Michael Chabon and Dean Koontz,
Remmers employs the paintbrush, as an author would the pen, to create
timeless moments and intimate snapshots. Remmers’ color palette is more
muted than before, and the oil and mixed media works highlight the grain of
his birch panels. Upstairs in the loft space, guest artist Devin Crane will
unveil a new series of paintings entitled, “Love & Tears”. A DreamWorks
animator, Crane skillfully illustrates the emotional pain of relationships
that have gone sour as well as the transformation of finding true love. The
reception for “Tracking The Wounded” and “Love & Tears” take place on
Saturday, January 24. Open to the public, both exhibitions will be on view
until February 14, 2009.
Joey Remmers was born and raised in Southern California. His interest in
art began at an early age, prompting him to find creative outlets for his
innate talent. At 19 years old, he began tattooing, which became both his
profession and artistic medium for the next ten years. Following his success
as a nationally recognized tattoo artist, his focus turned to illustration
and painting, exhibiting at galleries including CoproNason, M Modern, Fuse
Gallery, and Thinkspace Gallery. Remmers’ work has been featured in
Stretching Canvas and Savage Magazine, and he is currently collaborating
with Fender Guitars on a custom product series. For more information about

Devin Crane was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Growing up in
Southern California, the epicenter for all things Disney, Crane was inspired
by the film Peter Pan, which sparked his interest in animated caricatures.
He went on to attend CalArts in Valencia and worked for Disney Imagineering
and Warner Bros. Feature Animation while in school. Crane concurrently
developed successful careers in animation and painting, worker as a lead
animator at DreamWorks on numerous films including Kung Fu Panda, Shrek
2 &3
and Iron Giant, and exhibiting in group shows such as Gallery 1988’s “Crazy
For Cult” and “I Am 8 Bit” exhibitions. His work was published in the “I Am
8 Bit” anthology, and his paintings have been featured on MTV.com. For more
