"Call for Artists: SALVAGE - Reclaiming Recycling"

The Phillips Museum of Art at Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA announces a call to artists for “SALVAGE: Reclaiming Recycling”, a juried exhibition of 2D and 3D art created with 100 percent salvaged, used, and found objects to be held September 10 – October 30, 2009 at The Phillips Museum of Art at Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA.

Awards: Cash, merchandise, gift certificates. Juror of Awards: artist/sculptor, Linda Cunningham. Open to all artists 18 years of age or older who are U.S. residents. Artwork must be entirely of used, salvaged and found items. Two submissions per artist; one image of each 2D work, up to 3 images of each 3D work, must be created in the last two years. Submission by prospectus only: jpeg on CD (resolution 300 dpi, maximum 8 inches in either direction).

EXHIBITION DETAILS
September 10, 2009 – October 30, 2009
Entirely “green” juried exhibition with cash prizes. We are looking to challenge the museum to take on environment responsibility, viewers to rethink their relationships with “disposable” objects and artists to reduce their carbon footprint.

Co-chaired by Christine Batta and Nicole DeAugustine, two F&M graduating Art History and Anthropology seniors who are interested in green initiatives on the Franklin & Marshall campus and fine art’s capacity to lead in social change.

APPLICATION REQUIRMENTS
Requesting artworks created in the past two years consisting of 100% used and found objects both art or non-art, can be 2-D or 3-D, maximum dimensions for shipped works: 40 in x 40 in, maximum dimensions for hand delivered works: 72” H x 40” in W.

$20 submission fee for up to 3 works, 1 digital image per 2D work, up to 3 digital images for each 3D piece. C.V. and statement about the materials used and the work in terms of the show’s theme
