"Elemental Works by Daniel Wend"

Renton, WA,

The Renton Municipal Arts Commission is hosting a show of mixed media
paintings by Des Moines artist, Daniel Wend at the Carco Theater Gallery.
Many of his elemental works evolved over a period of years. They evoke the
forces of nature and the passage of time, incorporating fossil-like forms,
miniature mountainscapes, and unusually juxtaposed natural objects. Wend
uses found, recycled or salvaged materials in many of these artworks that
reflect his lifelong passion for the environment and the natural sciences. Dan Wend promotes his work with a Portfolio at absolutearts.com.
Dan Wend created an abstract art series of textural works, created with cloth, fibers, paper, plastic and assorted salvaged materials and objects on canvas, wood panels or masonite. He then painted them onto, into and around the surface with acrylics. Some of the works are evocative of miniature topographies, replete with river basins, volcanoes and fault zones. Other works in this series are suggestive of archaeological finds or fossils. Ultimately, the art is a reflection of the passage of time and the universal forces of nature.
Each artwork in this series has undergone its own creative evolution, as a natural outgrowth of Dan’s lifelong fascination with science and humanity. Carco Theater is located in Renton, off Maple Valley Highway/SR 169, just
east of the intersection with 405. It’s next to the Renton Community Center. From I-405, exit to Maple Valley Highway going east, and turn south at the
first stop light.
