"Urban Reemains - David Hewitt"
2009-03-31 until 2009-04-25
First Street Gallery
New York, NY, USA United States of America

The First Street Gallery in New York presents "Urban Reemains - David Hewitt" from March 31 through April 24, 2009. Bruce Helander comments, "David Hewitt paints mysterious pictures that investigate and document unearthed evidence of ancient civilizations. In his recent series meticulously depicting long abandoned urban centers, the artist positions his perspective from an imaginary aerial viewpoint that allows the architectonic richness of his sites to reveal their secrets." The First Street Gallery promotes their artists with a Gallery Portfolio at absolutearts.com.

Centuries old streets interconnect to reveal an intelligent design that the artist cleverly juxtaposes with square marble ghosts of weathered foundations. The meditative spirit of the ruins retains their dignity, reawakening an appreciation of our past and adding another dimension of an imaginary cinematic texture to the canvas. - Bruce Helander 2009
