Indepth Arts News: "L'Ecole de Paris - The School of Paris" 2009-04-24 until 2009-05-21 Hotel del Arte Barcelona, , ES Spain
Paris is a myth, the symbol of that freedom. Bateau Lavoir and Montparnasse gave them hospitality, and meeting places such as La Rotonde, Le Deme and La Coupole allowed them to meet in lively discussions. Extreme poverty continued to prevail but also friendship, the theme of the meeting of artists from the School of Paris is the belief in art as a universal language, the only one that allows communication and peace amongst men. It may be recalled that during the Spanish civil war, many artists were exiled to the French capital.
In this exhibition the gallery tried to collect some of the most important painters of this school.
Hotel del Arte is pleased to exhibit the works of these great masters of painting, whom are deeply respected, as a new project full of illusions which will be, undoubtedly, shared together.

LEcole de Paris - The School of Paris exhibition opened at the Iris Gallery Restaurant of Hotel Estela Barcelona - Art Hotel in Sitges, on Friday 24th April 2009, and continues until May 21st. This cannot be called an artistic movement or tendency. The School of Paris must be considered as a group of painters from different nationalities who worked in Paris for a long period of years. Many of them were Jews, Bulgarians, Russians, Spaniards ... everyone was looking for the best conditions for the expression of their talent, and for the freedom to paint.
