Bert Green Fine Art in Los Angeles is pleased to present three solo shows running from July 9 though August 15, 2009 by mid-career artists, Linda LaBella, Barron Storey and Robin Gaynes-Bachman. Linda LaBella, who lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, is having her second solo show at the gallery. Barron Storey’s first solo show at BGFA is titled “Cardboard Town.” Displayed with several earlier, larger abstract works from the 1980s, Gaynes-Bachman also traces an evolution using this medium over
many years.
LaBella approaches markmaking
with an inclusive sensibility, and a philosophical framework within which space and line are
treated as equals. The resulting images defy pictorial conventions and promote a highly sophisticated
aesthetic.
This is a batch of Barron Storey's
drawings and prints made during a series of encounters with a homeless encampment in the San Francisco neighborhood where Storey teaches art. The drawings are a sensitive take on an exasperating subject, and Storey looks at these people with his trademark combination of honesty and cynicism.
Robin Gaynes-Bachman‘s paintings on vinyl are meditations on ordinary objects, many from
extraordinary places, such as archaeological items or foreign artworks. She lives and works in Manhattan.
