Paul Breschuk comments about Dennis Jones' installation,
"Sometimes I wonder what you’d say if I let you speak, an installation by Dennis Michael Jones, offers its own brand of interactivity. Completely covering the walls are a thousand and two charcoal text drawings, all of which display different stenciled phrases (confessions) that begin with the word “sometimes.” The visual information dripping from the walls is paired with an infinitely looped audio track of a voice reading the same thousand and two phrases. On a mental level, with its unrelenting stream of one-way aural and visual communication, the visitor risks becoming over-stimulated, if not overwhelmed. Jones does well to create a space where private fears and desires are relayed with perfectly balanced intensity. It is not so overbearing as to remove space for independent thoughts and interpretations. And even with the more humourous phrases, there remains a strong element of sincerity that is moving in its stark poeticism and nakedness. It leaves one to guess if they’re hearing the true voice of the human condition, in all of its insecurity and loneliness."
