Art News:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: Gina Franano Public Relations, 561/632-7795, MAC ART GROUP TO SHOWCASE BON JOVI DRUMMER'S LATEST EXHIBITION; (Miami, FL, October 13, 2009): Tico Torres' wide-ranging talent takes on Miami with an unprecedented retrospective of his fine art. Last exhibiting in the south Florida arena in 1999, Torres' latest exhibition, "MANY FACES" will be hosted Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 5-10 PM, at MAC ART GROUP, 2727 NW Second Avenue, Miami, FL. Artist will be present for this "not to be missed VIP show during the Art Basel season. "We are honored to be exhibiting this major collection of Tico Torres' work during the all important Art Basel and Miami Art Fair season" beams an elated Mary Ann Cohen, Gallery Owner and Director who has built a solid 35 year reputation in Visual arts working with such notable artists as Peter Max, Alfred Gockel and Red Grooms. From her formal education in Visual arts through the oversight of publishing, design, sales and marketing operations, Mary Ann has excelled in every capacity making her one of the nations most successful and respected art dealers. "It's been some time since International collectors were able to view such an extraordinary show of this magnitude." says Cohen. Torres, renowned musician as the drummer of Bon Jovi since the band's inception in 1983, Tico approaches his art with the same intensity and passion as he does music. "For me, painting is very similar to jamming. As things in the painting open up, it's like musical paths crossing." explains Torres. Painting since age five, his artwork has been publicly exhibited since 1996 at his first critically acclaimed show in SoHo, NYC, selling more than half the collection on opening night. His last public exhibition was held in 1999 at the Hispanic Museum of Art in Coral Gables, very meaningful to the Cuban born artist who lived in Varadero, Cuba as a young child. "I'm really happy to be showing my art publicly again," says Torres. "My inspiration comes from life experiences; it's taken a while to put them down on canvas," Tico states, "I'm now pleased with the works I've completed and felt it was time to show." "And I'm very happy to exhibit with Mary Ann," Tico continues. "She really knows her business and the MAC gallery has just the coolest vibe, its very SoHo, very happening, and I'm really psyched and looking forward to this show." Proceeds from sales will benefit the Tico Torres Children Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 charity founded by Torres to assist children in need to fight hunger, disease, homelessness, neglect, abuse and illness. By way of varied fund raising events, the charity will generate and distribute funds to children's causes while raising awareness of their individual missions and needs. Torres will be in between music concerts and his art show during the month of December and Bon Jovi will go on a year long tour beginning January, 2010, promoting their latest release, "We Weren't Born To Follow." To date, Bon Jovi has sales over one hundred million! The "Many Faces" art exhibition will hold a private reception for Artist and VIP guests.
