"Fleures et Femmes : Trisha Lambi and Nikki Porter"
2009-10-14 until 2009-10-30
Tosari Galleries
Toowoomba, QL, AU Australia

The birth of Trisha Lambi’s first child in 1996 proved to be the catalyst to fulfill her life long dream of becoming an artist. She started doing portraits of her son and progressed to running a small portrait business. She also found time to start oil painting - before this she had painted only three or four pieces so it was a steep learning curve. In 2003 she was invited to participate in the Fourth Edition of the Biennale Internazionale dell’Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy and she hasn’t looked back. Trisha has promoted her artwork with a Premiere Portfolio at absolutearts.com since

There have been many highlights of her career since then however her latest achievement has been winning the 2009 Acquisitive Warwick Art Prize with her figurative painting ‘The Ballet Roche’. Trisha is especially delighted with her win given she grew up on a farm outside Warwick; indeed her parents still live there. ‘I think it’s wonderful that my first painting acquired for a public collection is in my home town and that the painting is of my family and the backdrop is the family farm – it just seems fitting!’

Other highlights of her career include selection as a finalist in the following art awards

‘She’ Walker St Gallery Art Award
    ANL Maritime Art Award
    Norvill Art Prize
    Churchie Emerging Art Award
    Cromwell’s Art Prize.

She has also been included in international and national curated exhibitions including the Guangzhou International Art Fair in China where one of her paintings was selected to represent Australia in all the advertising for the event. Other shows include :

The Money Myth Exhibition Toyota Community Spirit Gallery Melbourne VIC
Au Naturel - The Nude in the 21st Century   Oregon  USA
2nd Premio Internazionale di Pittura Treviso Italy
The Blake Exceptions Exhibition Rushcutters Bay Gallery Sydney NSW
Create to Advocate Parliament House Canberra ACT
Selected Artist Avant Card Calling All Artists Project Melbourne Vic

The body of work presented in this exhibition showcases her latest work together with a selection of older paintings not widely exhibited. Trisha’s 2009 series continues exploring her passion for light on the female form with delightful results. Powerful narratives are created from pared down compositions and limited palettes – it is, quite simply, a beautiful show.
