“CHINESE MASTERS PRINTS” AT

PUBLIC ART SPACE, PAN PACIFIC SINGAPORE

 

19 October to 18 December 2009

 

16 October 2009 – In collaboration with Yang Gallery, Pan Pacific Singapore presents a collection of contemporary art pieces by local artist Zhou Ling and Chinese artists Tong Zhengang, He Wenjue, Feng Zhengjie and THEY Artists Group at Public Art Space.

“Chinese Masters Prints” is a showcase of watercolour on paper, silkscreen print and lithography paintings, depicting traditions and new hope. The pieces are available for viewing and purchase till 18 December.

Artists’ Profiles

 

Zhou Ling (Singapore)

China-born Zhou Ling is a Singapore permanent resident whose art pieces are currently collected internationally and displayed at Chinese museums. Born in 1940, Changsha province, Zhou Ling followed her Singaporean parents to Hong Kong to pursue an art career and was voted first class artist in 1989. Zhou Ling’s specialty lies in her unique style of executing traditional Chinese paintings with a modern colour approach. Her most renowned pieces are those featuring vibrant and lively peonies.

 

Tong Zhengang (China)

Born in 1959, Xinjiang Autonomous Zone, Tong Zhengang graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing in 1989.  >From 1992 to 2000, he taught in the Art Department of the Beijing Language Culture University. While teaching in 1996, he was invited to also exhibit and work at the Moualot Lithoprint Factory (Paris) for four years. Zhengang’s works reflect his feelings and understanding of the value and meaning of everyday life; showcasing the spirit of human beings and all things related to them. Zhengang’s simplistic style stimulates one’s imagination, evoking thoughts on humanity and reality.

 

He Wenjue (China)

Born in 1970 in Hunan, China, He Wenjue is one of the most established Artists in the Chinese Contemporary Art scene and he is most famous for his ‘Water Series’ and latest ‘Movie Series’. He Wenjue’s ‘Movie Series’ features famous, internationally acclaimed movies that not only addresses and refreshes memorable scenarios for the artist but also, most importantly, his observation of developments of a society and its expanding culture through films.Collectors and museums are collecting He Wenjue’s works internationally. He currently lives and works in Beijing.

 

Feng Zhengjie (China)

Born in 1968 in Sichuan Province, China, Feng Zhengjie is best-known for his Portrait of China series featuring portraits of the modern Chinese women, in bright red and turquoise eye-catching colors. The signature vacant and diverging eyes are the iconic representation of the flamboyant and diverse world we are living in today. Critics view his work as a critique of contemporary consumer society. Being one of the Chinese Contemporary Masters, Feng’s pieces are featured in major auctions such as Christies and Sotheby’s, as well as being collected by private collectors and contemporary Museums from all over the world.


THEY Artists Group (China)

THEY are the most highly anticipated upcoming Artists group in the Chinese Contemporary Art Scene. They impressed audiences with their juxtapose of various iconic images of Modern society inside an individual surrounding environment and corrupted private space, forming interesting dialogues and addressing issues of existence of the Urban Chinese society with Western influences. THEY’s works are being widely collected by collectors and Contemporary Museums internationally.

Public Art Space, 220 square metres of dedicated space on level two of the hotel overlooking The Atrium, is dedicated to showcasing collections by international and local artists with regularly rotating exhibitions.
