For Immediate Release

Karen Sperling, the original Corel Painter expert (she wrote the manuals for the first several versions) is  pleased to announce the availability of the printed version of her book, Painting for Photographers.

The printed book, featuring art lessons, step-by-step software instructions and traditional painting-on-canvas techniques for turning photos into paintings is available in three formats. These include:

•A Deluxe Hardcover Edition

•A print-on-demand softcover version

•A traditionally printed softcover version

The 8 1/2" x 11", 128-page deluxe hardbound version is signed by the author and comes with a bonus CD containing the tutorial source photos and specially created exclusive brushes and tutorials for turning portrait, landscape and pet photos into paintings.

Additionally, 10% of every hardcover book purchase will be donated to one charity out of a list of 10 for the reader to choose from when ordering the book.

"I’ve always seen celebrities contributing to various causes and wished I could do the same," says author Karen Sperling. "I've always loved helping people realize their dreams of painting from photos. Now all of us can take our enjoyment to the next level and reach out to help others by donating to charity while we’re having a great time painting."

The 10 charities, all of which have received 4-star ratings from the Charity Navigator web site, include, Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis, Dreams Come True, Feed the Children, Glaucoma Research Foundation, Guide Dog Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Make A Wish International, National Cancer Coalition, National Federation of the Blind and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Meanwhile, Painting for Photographers is also available in an 8 3/4" x 11 1/4", 128-page softcover version, including a print-on-demand edition that's a little more expensive, but is available one week after ordering, and a traditionally printed version, which is more economical, and will be available as part of a limited print run after November 30, 2009 while supplies last.

Painting for Photographers starts with a look at the art concepts that photographers need to know to paint their photos and describes the materials needed to create art, in this case, the software program tools and features, in addition to Wacom tablets.

Next, Painting for Photographers provides step-by-step instructions and four-color illustrations for creating paintings in Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop from popular photo subjects, including portraits, landscapes and pets, covering various styles of art, including oils, watercolors and pastels.

Additionally, Painting for Photographers shows how to paint with traditional acrylics and oils on top of the digital artwork after it's printed to canvas.

Painting for Photographers appeals to everyone from professional photographers who would like to sell paintings to their clients to hobbyists who are interested in painting photos of their kids and grandkids to graphic designers, illustrators, animators, web art creators and fine artists who would like to use photos as the basis for their artwork.

Painting for Photographers is both for beginners who never used Painter or Photoshop and for more experienced users who would like to enhance their knowledge and expertise.

Painting for Photographers has been receiving rave reviews. These are just two examples:

“You must have this book. Painting for Photographers offers the tools and instructions to turn your photographs into paintings. It’s never been easier to make your work uniquely yours than with this great book.”
-Phillip Stewart Charis, world-recognized authority in formal portrait photography and renowned portrait artist

“I’ve always admired the beautiful, hand-painted feel of these images, but have been overwhelmed (and frankly, a bit intimidated) by the thought of learning how to do them myself. Painting for Photographers is a beautifully done book that is also beautifully easy to understand. Karen Sperling has taken a mystical subject and brought it down to earth. Simple to understand, well thought out, and amazing results. I’m eager to create my own masterpiece now!”
-Kevin Kubota, leading photographer, speaker and photographic educator
