e v+a exhibition of visual+ art, the pre-eminent annual exhibition of contemporary art in Ireland, is about to enter its 34th year and the e v+ a Committee is delighted to announce that Elizabeth Bonde Hatz is the OPEN e v+ a 2010 curator.
Elizabeth Bonde Hatz is an architect, holder of an AA Diploma/ SAR/MSA, and Professor of Architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. She has also been teaching at SAUL, School of Architecture, University of Limerick, since its establishment in 2006. As the head of the Swedish Association of Architects from 1993 to 1994, Hatz co-founded Fargfabriken, the internationally renowned scene for Art and Architecture in Stockholm, and a satellite venue in Östersund in the north of Sweden. She has been an active member of the board since 1995.

Submissions from Ireland:
Artists may submit their work, proposals and documentation directly, with the completed application form and entry fee enclosed, at the specified collection points on the dates and at the times indicated on the schedule below.
Please note: the co-operation of the various drop centres depends on work being submitted and collected only on the dates and at the times specified. The centres will not handle artists’ work before or after these dates and times. Artists themselves must arrange for the timely delivery of their submissions to and from these centres.

Submissions by post/courier:
Artists choosing to submit works, proposals or documents by post or courier may send them with a completed entry form (with the proper entry fee enclosed) directly to either of the e v+ acontact addresses given below. To be eligible for adjudication such submissions must arrive on or before the final closing date: Friday 27 November 2009, 5pm. Artists are responsible for insuring such work while in transit.

3. The Lives of Spaces opening by Elizabeth Bonde Hatz in the Church Gallery at Limerick School of Art and Design, Thursday 29 October, 7pm
The Irish Architecture Foundation will launch The Lives of Spaces in the Church Gallery at Limerick School of Art and Design, Limerick Institute of Technology, Clare Street Campus, Limerick, at 7pm on Thursday 29 October 2009. The exhibition will be opened by Elizabeth Bonde Hatz, curator of e v+ a 2010.
The Lives of Spaces was Ireland’s participation in the 11th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice from September to November 2008. The exhibition will run until 20 November 2009. Opening times are Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm.

Noughties but Nice: 21st Century Irish Art surveys the extensive terrain of art made in Ireland during the first decade of this millennium. This exhibition selects some of the most exciting contemporary masterworks of the Noughties, including seminal works by leading Irish artists. Audience engagement is a central element of this exhibition; the selection includes high impact works in sculpture and on canvas juxtaposed with digital media, participatory and experiential works.

In addition to its contemporary exhibition programme, an extensive range of the Limerick City Gallery of Art’s Permanent Collection is always on display. The collection includes fine examples of Irish Art, including Sean Keating, Paul Henry, William Orpen, Jack B. Yeats, Grace Henry and Camille Souter.
Admission is free.
