September’s Late Edition,
by Julieta Aranda
|
Punning “late editions,” when newspapers once released an evening edition of breaking news with a “late addition,” as in an afterthought or correction, this print-based series aims to put the current exhibition and
overall space up for review by artists and architects. Instead of following the conventions of newspaper publishing, these responses take the form of a new artwork “edition” that will serve as a compliment, retort, or simply a
non-sequitur.
By appropriating each newspaper distribution box in LentSpace as a gallery-in-itself, each edition will become both part of the larger exhibition and the site as a whole, yet will also serve as a take-home gift — often found by
surprise —for any visitor.
Drop Date
Monday, November 16
Location

Show Me The Money is an evening of dance theater vignettes created specifically for the former bank vault at 14 Wall Street. The vignettes examine how the economy affects the public psyche, how fear of the future affects our
capacity for intimacy, and how anxiety manifests in human cruelty and hopelessness. The dismal nature of these topics is transformed through satire, as the situations that the characters embody are exaggerated to the point of absurdity.
Each performance will be followed by a dance party (!) with beer and wine.

Walk In My Shoes is a sonic autobiography and photo essay for solo piano that traces Eleonor Sandresky‘s southern family roots through North Carolina, Charleston, SC, and Savannah and Macon, GA. In this piece, she uses field
recordings made on a sojourn through the South with photographer, Roseann Rush, whose images enhance the soundscapes. Their voices appear and disappear, as do their footsteps. The sounds are processed and interleaved, and then triggered
through a computer and live sensor system that Sandresky will wear and manipulate live while she plays the piano.
