To mark Russia's National Unity Day, the Russian Film Festival presents a special programme of events exploring what it is to capture contemporaryRussia on screen:
A discussion asking why Russia's perception of itself on screen is so different from how the those in the West perceive it - and
asking which vision of Russia is real? Speakers include several prominent members of the Russian film-making community:
filmcritic Andrey Plakhov, director Pavel Bardin, documentary-maker Vitaliy Ma
nskiy, as well as other noted journalists,
experts in Russia and filmmakers.
There will also be screening of three films, all of which have a unique take on Russia:
Explores the rise of ethnic tension and neo-fascism in Russia.
Based on Nabokov's play, followed by a Q&A with director Andrey Eshpay.
An adaption of Chekhov's poignant and philosophical classic, about a doctor who becomes a patient in his own asylum.
