Since September 2007 the 12 meters neon writing FLU POWER FLU by Italian artist Stefano Cagol highlights physical and mental influences, positive and negative points of power in the capital of Nato and of Europe, in front of the former financial-market center, on the former casino, on the actual Beursschouwburg Art Center. For the festival opening night, Cimatics re-appropriates the semi-permanent installation by temporarily speeding up the flickering of the neon words. For 24 hours the installation will go 5 times as fast. By this, converted it into an event, it is re-mixed with the festival and re-activated as an urban landmark.

For this 7th edition of the Cimatics festival, we try to go at full throttle again with todays image culture. As an audiovisual festival Cimatics puts the focus both on art, media, design and music. We invite you for a mix of concerts, film-screenings, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, public interventions and parties.

Into the Light is an international contemporary art project with video and light installations integrated into the cityscape. The images, which can be seen on the squares during the longest nights of the year, incite the viewer to take another look at reality.

Into the Light addresses the status of the image and its complex interaction with its surroundings. The works brought together here display the participating artist’s differing attitudes and methodologies. They were selected for their complexity, their complementarity and their potential for inciting the viewer to take another look at reality.

Presentations daily from 5 p.m. until late at night in the Leopold De Waelplaats, the square in front of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, on MuHKA and in the neighbourhood of Antwerp South.

Rome, October 22, 2009 – The Jury of the Terna Prize 02 for Contemporary Art chaired by Luigi Roth and Flavio Cattaneo, Terna’s Chairman and CEO respectively, and formed by the Prize’s curators Gianluca Marziani and Cristiana Collu, by Massimiliano Fuksas, Matthew Higgs, Giuseppe Piccioni, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Vicente Todolì and Luigi Ontani, announced the finalists among 3,500 participants with the winning artworks for the Terawatt, Gigawatt, Megawatt and Connectivity categories.
