"Ideas are not made to be though,
but lived"
André Malraux
Since 1994, the year of its creation during the siege of Sarajevo and
under the emblematic patronage of André Malraux, numerous artists,
writers, filmmakers, photographers and translators have supported
the Sarajevo André Malraux center and its director, Francis Blueb.
Many of them did the trip to express their support, to accompany
his intelectual and moral involvement and to honour the presence of
French culture in Bosnia.
In 2004, for its 10th anniversary, the Georges Pompidou center gave
homage to this place of resistance and encounters. A year earlier,
Jean-Luc Godard made it the center of his movie : "Notre musique"
and Enki Bilal a character of the "Sommeil du Monstre". The town
of Sarajevo awarded the André Malraux center with the 6th of April
Prize (anniversary day of Sarjevo liberation in 1945).
