View it in your browser.   INVITATION (English follows) DAGAFO et [Séquence] ont le plaisir de vous inviter au lancement de la publication Le corps jouable, Marc Fournel, vidéos et installations À OBORO le 26 mars 2010 de 17h à 19h, 2001 rue Berri, Montréal Le corps jouable, Marc Fournel, Vidéos et installations porte sur le travail artistique de Marc Fournel de 1995 à 2009 et comprend des textes en anglais et en français des auteurs Fabrice Montal, Caroline Seck Langill, Jean Gagnon et Mike Phillips. Cette monographie comprend aussi un court texte de l'artiste portant sur ses titres énigmatiques. Cette publication à couverture rigide est illustrée de photographies couleur. La galerie [Séquence] de Chicoutimi et DAGAFO se sont associés pour cette publication. Rarissimes sont les ouvrages, essais et textes critiques portant sur des travaux d’artistes contemporains québécois dont la démarche rend appui sur les nouveaux médias. Cette édition nous fait découvrir une figure particulière du paysage des arts médiatiques tout en contribuant à la documentation nécessaire de ces pratiques artistiques. Marc Fournel, après quelques productions vidéographiques de 1995 à 1998, commence à explorer plus systématiquement l’utilisation de l’informatique et des logiciels, notamment les logiciels libres. Depuis 2004, il se consacre à temps plein à son travail de recherche artistique ce qui lui a permis de produire un ensemble d’oeuvres, mais aussi d’élaborer ses outils et ses instruments informatiques. Son travail artistique a fait l'objet d'une diffusion nationale et internationale notamment à OBORO à Montréal, [Séquence] à Chicoutimi, Interacess à Toronto, au Festival international de Vidéos d'Art de Casablanca, à L'IRCAM à Paris ainsi qu'à la fondation Telefonica à Buenos Aires. DAGAFO est un organisme sans but lucratif fondé à Montréal en 2007 par Ricardo Dal Farra, Jean Gagnon et Marc Fournel. DAGAFO soutient, développe et produit des projets favorisant les échanges et les relations culturelles à l'échelle nationale et internationale au moyen d'expositions et de publications. DAGAFO remercie [Séquence], Chicoutimi (QC) et i-DAT, Faculty of Technology, University of Plymouth (UK) pour leur collaboration à cette publication ainsi que le Conseil des Arts du Canada pour son soutien financier. The monograph also includes a short text by the artist about the enigmatic titles of his works. The hardcover book is illustrated with color photos. The Gallery [Séquence] in Chicoutimi and DAGAFO have collaborated for this publication. Volumes, essays, and critical articles on works of contemporary Quebecer artists whose approach is based on new media are rare. This edition makes us discover a particular figure in the landscape of media art, while at the same time contributing to the necessary documentation of these artistic practices. Marc Fournel, after some videographic productions between 1995 and 1998, begins to more systematically explore the application of informatics and softwares, particularly open-source softwares. Since 2004, he has devoted himself full-time to his artistic research, which has allowed him to produce a number of works, but also to develop his informatics tools and instruments. His artistic work has been presented nationally and internationally, notably at OBORO in Montreal, [Séquence] in Chicoutimi, Interacess in Toronto, at the International Festival of Video Art of Casablanca, at L'IRCAM in Paris, and at the Foundation Telefonica in Buenos Aires. DAGAFO is a non-profit organization founded in Montreal in 2007 by Ricardo Dal Farra, Jean Gagnon, and Marc Fournel. DAGAFO supports, develops, and produces projects—by means of exhibitions and publications —that foster cultural exchange and relations on a national or international level.
