S T E P H E N W R I G H T
Through his figurative works, Stephen Wright challenges the
viewer with the immediacy and psychological complexity of his subjects. He creates intriguing compositions by
manipulating multiple perspectives, often cropping his figures in order to create
a more intense impression.
The artist enjoys emphasizing the surface of his paintings,
leaving evidence of his brushwork as he works out the problems of the image directly
on the canvas. Improvisation is
very important to Wright, utilizing the paint as he would a drawing, insisting that
the finished piece reflects the struggles of the process.
At the gallery we present the artist's new "Jen" series.
