ISSUE Project Room is thrilled to announce their Emerging Artist Commissions/New Works program. They will commission eight emerging artists in 2011 to create a new work that will be presented at ISSUE Project Room's current 1500 sq. ft. performance space at 232 3rd Street between the dates of January 1st and December 31st 2011. The recipients of the commission will receive a $1,000 stipend, have access to ISSUE Project Room’s facilities, and have the opportunity to work on the facilities unique 15-channel speaker system with training from Stephan Moore, designer of the system.
Applications will be accepted online only and should include a short biography, CV, proposal and links to two work samples. Emerging Artist/New Works will have a strong focus on the performing arts but emerging artists in all disciplines are encouraged to apply. ISSUE will be accepting proposals that express extraordinary innovation and creativity in experimental visual arts, film, video, new media, literary and performing arts.

ISSUE Project Room, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 2003 by visionary artist Suzanne Fiol, and is a vibrant nexus for cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary arts in Brooklyn. ISSUE supports emerging and established experimental artists through more than 200 programs each year including music concerts, literary readings, films, videos, dance, visual and sound art, new media, critical theory lectures and discussions, site-specific work, commissions, educational workshops, master classes, and genre-defying interdisciplinary performances that challenge and expand conventional practices in art.
