Witte de With
On the occasion of a newly appointed education curator, you are cordially invited for a reception on 29 April 2010; 5-7 p.m.

I'm very happy that with the appointment of Renée Freriks
Witte de With is now also represented by a new
 and younger generation.” Nicolaus Schafhausen

Witte de With is delighted to announce the appointment of Renée Freriks as our new education project curator, as of April 1st, 2010.
Her predecessor Belinda Hak moves within the organization to begin her new role as business coordinator.

Witte de With received a great number of applications for the position of education curator. After a careful selection and several interviews, we chose Renée Freriks, whom we
welcome with great enthusiasm. Renée Freriks is already familiar with Witte de With and the education program and we believe we have found someone who will further develop the education program in an enterprising manner, withcommitment and new élan.

Over the past eight years, Belinda Hak developed Witte de With’s
ground-breaking and highly ambitious education program. She successfully brought the education and artistic programming closer together and brought a new, young and active audience to the institution. The program’s innovative approach is recognized nationally and internationally.

With great enthusiasm, Belinda Hak is starting a new role at Witte de With as business coordinator.
This change follows her studies in Art and Cultural Management at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, from which she graduated in 2009. Witte de With expects that her appointment will continue the professionalization of the institute, now in its 20th year.

You are cordially invited to the reception on April 29th, 5-7 p.m.
Witte de With would like to celebrate Belinda Hak's farewell as educator of Witte de With and the arrival of Renée Freriks with all partners, staff, current and former project participants. This festive occasion will be held on Thursday, 29 April from 5 to 7 p.m. in the library of Witte de With.

Biographies
Renée Freriks graduated from the Masters of Modern Art at Utrecht University in 2007. During this study, she was an intern at Witte de With, and worked, among other projects, on Art VIPs. Her thesis dealt with the (in)accessibility of video art outside the exhibition. She attended the Bilingual and International Teacher Education Programme, a postgraduate course of the Utrecht University, during which she taught at the Pretoria High School for Girls in South Africa. She was a project assistant for the production and organization of Witte de With’s symposium Rotterdam Dialogues: The Artists in 2009. Last year she worked as a student advisor at the Utrecht School of the Arts, and was a member of the advisory panel for the education program of the Impakt Foundation in Utrecht.

Belinda Hak recently developed the Morality web platform. Apart from the numerous educational projects, various collaborations and the supervision of many young people, she curated several innovative projects for young people, students and young professionals, such as It's A New Brand World / The Exciting Museum (2009), andSpeak Out / Where do we go from here? (2007-2008). In 2009, Belinda was curator of William Hunt’s exhibition and publication Tempting Fate, Swimming Alone (2008). The book JET – it's not a plane, it's not a girl's name, it's a book about art (2009) holds a very important place in her career to date. Besides Witte de With, Belinda worked as an editor for Tubelight, was an external advisor for education at MAMA, Rotterdam, and has given many lectures at different schools and universities.
